New Post: Custom Descriptions

The documentation mentions the ability to add (or update with) custom descriptions, but the steps to do this are pretty vague. How can this be done? I'd like to included output from the BizTalkMapDocumenter in my BizTalkConfiguration .chm, I just need to know how. Thanks!

Hi,

Even I am facing the same problem with output as Word. I am getting the same error "Unable to cast object of type 'Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOM.NameIdPair' to type 'Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOM.SendPort'." when I select my Orchestrations project, otherwise for my Pipelines, Schemas and Maps it is working fine.

Can someone from BizTalk Documenter team look into this.

We're having some issues running the v3.2 BizTalk documenter against our deployed apps. Most of the issues have been raised in existing posts - errors converting idList pair into SendPort and errors generating XML output for Word. I was going to spend some time investigating the source to see if the issues could be resolved, but the only source I seem to be able to get is for an older version that includes a non-functional Word output - and the site says latest checkin is in 2007.

Where is the v3.2 source (that is equivalent to the current binary)?

Has anyone seen an erorr when trying to generate Word documentation, rather than CHM ?

- I'm getting an error ... "The system cannot find the file specified"

- an XML file is generated though

For the map documentation produced by the BizTalk Server Documenter tool, it would be great to include improved map documentation in the chm file on the lines of the layout produced by Steve Hart's "HTML Generator Stylesheet for BizTalk Maps" (http://www.hartsteve.com/2006/02/20/biztalk-map-documenter/).

This XSLT file is used to create an html document by transforming a BizTalk .btm files. Note, it does work with BizTalk 2006 too.

We have been using this Map Documenter on our project, and it has been great. We have also made the following improvements:

- 3 column table layout for direct node-to-node links: source node, destination, node and comments.
- The comments include output of labels and constants.
- Map Paging support.

On our wish-list would also be:

- show fields from both source and destination schemas that are not linked.
- sorting of lines by destination schema fields.

I'm experiencing a problem with the Word document not generating any output for BRE Policies and Rules, however, this content does appear in the chm file. Is this feature not implemented yet?

Hi!

When I use chm as output provider everything works like a charm on my Windows Server 2003.
But I want to use Word as output provider, and that is where my problems begin and I get an error saying:

"Unable to cast object of type 'Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOM.NameIdPair' to type 'Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOM.SendPort'."

Has anyone else seen this, and more importantly: does anyone have a solution?

When i point out the ConfigFramework config xml file it doesent compile in to the CHM file, is this becase i run BizTalk 2006 R2 our what could be the problem?

On one of my biztalk applications I get a

System.InvalidOperationException: There was an error generating the XML document. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Instance validation error: '204' is not a valid value for Microsoft.Services.Tools.BizTalkOM.TrackingType.

Anyone have an idea on how I can fix this? Or what is causing it?

After moving the biztalk documenter a different development box and selecting 'Select Documentation Type' and choosing 'Specific BizTalk Application' the application throws the error of 'Microsoft.BizTalk.ExplorerOM.PermissionException'. Are there any specific rights and priviledges my id must be given on this machine?

I love the Orchestration details (every shape) in the Compiled Help output, but the Word doc output is missing this and has only the Orchestration image. Is there a way to get the Word Doc to have all the shape details and code like the Compiled Help output?

If it was, don't rename but open it using MS Word.

Just for reference. I did my tests on MS Word 2003 with ver 2007 read capability.

Hi !

I've been testing/using the documenter in our DEV environment and I found out that the entries in the Business Rules Engine node (CHM file), is not being updated when selecting other applications. It seems that the Policies and Vocabularies were getting only some "default" Policies and Vocabularies.

Just to elaborate further, here is my scenario:
1. BizTalk Applications:
BizApp01 - no Policies, No Vocabularies
BizApp02 - with Policies, with Vocabularies
BizApp03 - with Policies, with Vocabularies (not the same as BizApp02)

2. Choose BizApp01 to be documented, Check Include Rules Engine Documentation
Results: There are Policies and Vocabularies in the document which are from BizApp02.

3. Choose BizApp02 to be documented, Check Include Rules Engine Documentation
Results: Some of the Policies and Vocabularies expected are not in the document.

4. Choose BizApp03 to be documented, Check Include Rules Engine Documentation
Results: Policies and Vocabularies in the document are the same as in step 3.

Did anyone experienced this ? Is there a work around for this ?

I uncommented some of the lines in the code to render the output to word document. Looks like some of the functions which are used in WordXmlPublisher.cs are not implemented in the Microsoft.Sdc.BizTalkOM.dll.

I appreciate if someone could point me to the latest version of the BizTalkOM.dll.
